SCOUT ASSEMBLY
BUSY DAY AT BRADHELI)
FELLOWSHIP BETWEEN BOYS OF TWELVE NATIONS.
PAGEANT OF CITIZENSHIP
By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright SYDNEY. January 6.
Activity at the scouts’ jamboree is now at its height, with the general routine working smoothly as the result of 18 months’ organisation. Good fellowship among nearly 10.000 scouts from 12 nations and every Australian State, is strongly evident. From 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. the camp rings with songs and laughter. Individual troops act as hosts to representative scouts from other contingents and all sit round a humble meal together. In the evening they gather round camp fires and in marquees and sing their various national songs and choruses, fraternising in the'happiest manner.
About 90 per cent of the boys today participated in special excursions, touring the harbour in a showboat, motoring to Katoomba, visiting-.the Jenolan Caves and the popular coastal resorts and beaches. Tomorrow will be observed a Girl Guide day, when a pageant of citizenship embracing the work of the Girl Guide movement will be presented. The Governor’s wife. Lady Wakehurst, will be the guest of honour.
All the jamboree contingents will take part in a march past on Sunday and the leaders of the various contingents will be presented with memorial castings. Lord Hampton will deliver a farewell speech. The majority of the Scouts will break camp on Monday.
