PRICES AT WELLINGTON.

The first sale this year of sheepskins, hides and tallow was held yesterday by the combined Wellington brokers, a moderate offering meeting fairly keen competition. The selection of sheepskins was quite up to average but when compared with prices ruling at the previous sale held on December 9 an easing of ,|d to Id a lb was recorded. More interest was shown in hides, though values were somewhat erratic. Light ox and cow showed an advance of Ad t'j :‘d a lb. Heavy and medium ox showed little change kip and yearling l-8d to 3-8 d up, while calfskins were generally firm. A small offering of tallow was submitted and prices were generally firm on last quotations. The following is the range of prices: Dry sheepskins: Halfbred. 6.|d to 7A d; fine crossbred. 5d to 7.'d; medium crossbred. 5Ad to 7',d: coarse crossbred, 5Ad to 7,' t d; half wools, 5d to 7d; quarter wools. 3Jd to 5Ad; pelts. 2Ad to 3:;d.
