FROZEN MEAT TRADE
QUOTATIONS IN LONDON. LAMB MARKET EASIER. Lamb market: More inquiry for New Zealand new season's, but with heavy Australian stocks; market showing easier tendency. Mutton market: Wethers and ewes, demand slow, but prices unchanged. Beef market: Frozen beef, firmer; chilled beef, good trade at the better prices. New Zealand baconer pigs: Market quiet and unchanged. Boneless bobby veal: Trade slow. The above report was received yesterday by the Meat Board from its London office, which advises that the following are the ruling prices of wholesale quantities of the descriptions of frozen meat mentioned, and are for representative parcels of the goods sold on Thursday. Chilled beef prices are averages of the week. All prices are on the basis of delivered to Smithfield market. Prices for the previous week are shown in parentheses: New Zealand sheep: Crossbred wethers and/or maiden ewes, 481 b and under, 4jd (4Jd); 491 b to 561 b, 4 l-8d (4 l-8d); 571 b to 641 b, 4 l-8d (4 l-8d); 651 b to 721 b, 4 l-8d (4 l-8d). Best North Island wether sheep, under 48 lbs., 4.7 d per lb.; 48/561bs„ 4 l-8d per lb.; 56/641bs„ 4 l-8d per lb.; 64/72155„ 4 l-8d per lb. North Island ewes, under 481b5., 3d per lb.; 48/561b5., 2 n t d per lb.; 56/641b5., 2Jd per lb.; 64/721b5., 2 3-8 d per lb. Compared with last week’s quotations, prices are unaltered. The market is quiet generally, particularly for mutton.
