In the tenth round of the chess championship, A. G. Gyles (New Zealand) defeated A. Shoebridge (New South Wales). Gyles is showing greatly improved form. In the second half of the championship, Crowl defeated Purdy. Koshnitsky, who was held to a draw by Goldstein, now leads Purdy by one and a half points.
