STILL IN GAOL
AL CAPONE SEEKING RELEASE. FURTHER CHARGE PENDING. By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright. CHICAGO, January 5. Al Capone, through his attorney, has paid the Federal Government 37,692 dollars, covering fines for failure to pay income tax, in order to facilitate his release on January 19. This, however, seems to be complicated through a number of circumstances, including the fact that he still owes 20.000 dollars in other fines.
He is reported to be suffering from paresis. He faces immediate re-arrest and the likelihood of years’ imprisonment in Illinois on misdemeanour charges.
