ATLANTIC AIR MAILS

EXPERIMENTS IN BRITAIN.

REFUELLING OF PLANES IN THE AIR. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 9.40 a.m.) RUGBY, January 4. According to present plans June 1 is the date provisionally fixed for opening an experimental air mail service between England and New York. The Air Minister hopes to experiment in running a regular seasonal service by means of C class flying boats, refuelled in the air. The project has been rendered technically possible by experiments over the last fifteen months. The early months of 1939 will be taken up with trials at various points in flight refuelling over the actual route itself, in light of the results of experiments hitherto conducted on the South Coast.
