A particularly mean theft occurred in Invercargill on Christmas morning when a parcel containing a Christmas cake, which had been left on the verandah of a house in Eye Street, was stolen. The thief was evidently watching when the parcel was left, as it was only a few moments later that it disappeared. The front door was open at the time, but the occupant was at the back of the house.
