“MEIN KAMPF”

COPYRIGHT IN AMERICA CHALLENGED. PROPOSED ROYALTY BENEFITS FOR JEWS. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. NEW YORK, January 2. Because they contend that Herr Hitler’s American copyright is invalid, Stackpole and Sons intend to publish an unabridged translation of “Mein Kampf,” and to send the Fuhrer’s royalties to Jewish charities. The copyright law relates to American and German citizens when registered in 1935. Herr Hitler is described as a “Staatenloser Deutscher” (German without a State), who became a German citizen in 1931.

The existing editions of “Mein Kampf” in English are one-third the length of the original and severely expurgated. Whole sections of the German edition have been omitted, meanings have been changed, and, according to one student “practically every statement has been toned down.”
