ASSURANCES TO FRENCH PREMIER. GREAT WAR SACRIFICES RECALLED. By Telegraph—Press Association— Copyright PARIS, January 3. At Bastia, the second city of Corsica, the French Premier (M. Daladier) received a wild welcome from 30,000 persons when he stepped ashore today.

Later, in a speech in the theatre, the mayor, recalling that 40,000 Corsicans gave their lives in the Great War, said that Corsica was ready for even greater sacrifices if France was threatened. M. Daladier replied: "We will remain free France prefers death to servitude.”
