COMMERCIAL AVIATION
DEVELOPMENTS IN CANADA. WINNIPEG. Commercial aviation in Canada during 1937 showed a remarkable increase over previous years. During the year, 10,627,000 miles were flown compared with 7,804.000 miles during 1936 and 7.522,000 miles in 1935. In these flights. 2.004,000 ton miles were carried compared with 1,165,000 ton miles in 1936. Carrying freight, passengers and mail to the mining fields and to the remote parts of the country was the principal activity of the commercial aircraft in Canada during 1937. The fact that machinery and equipment can be brought to the mining fields within a reasonable time, and at reasonable cost, has contributed to the increase in mining activity in Canada, and a number of new mining fields owe their existence to this new method of transportation.
