The Taumarunui Chamber of Commerce has supported the Otorohanga Chamber in its efforts to obtain licences. It is contended that the granting of licences would do away with the slygrog trade. There are political, social and ethical sides to the question, but it is felt that, with the great increase in the pakeha population during the past 35 years, a revision of the liquor laws of the territory should be brought about in the interests of pakeha and Maori.
