NO CHANGE IN ATTITUDE OF B.M.A. AGREEMENT TO RESUME DISCUSSION. LEAD FROM THE MINISTER AWAITED. <By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON. This Day. Confirmation of the statement by the Minister of Health. Mr Fraser. that discussions between the Government and the British Medical Association on the work involved in the establishment of the health benefits under the Social Security Act are to be resumed toward the end of January was given by the president of the New Zealand branch of the British Medical Association. Dr J. P. S. Jamieson, Nelson, in a telephone interview from Wellington yesterday afternoon.
“There has been none whatever,” Dr Jamieson said, when asked whether there had been any change in the attitude taken up by the association to the social security scheme. "We were asked if we would be prepared to resume discussions with the Government," he added, “and we said we were agreeable to do so. We have always been willing to discuss things. “In the meantime,’’ Dr Jamieson said, "our attitude is in no way changed.” Dr Jamieson indicated that he could not go into further detail at present on the view that would be put forward by the representatives of the association who would be meeting the Minister. “We are waiting to see what the Minister has to put forward,” he said.
