FEATHERSTON
SCHOOL COMMITTEE MEETING. CONVEYANCE OF CHILDREN. (“Times-Age” Special.) The final meeting of the Featherston School Committee for the year was held on Tuesday evening, Mr J. W. Holland presiding in the absence of Mr F. Dohnt, who is now resident in Masterton. The secretary, Mr C. C. Kenward, reported that the Shop Day held in aid of the Dental Clinic funds was marred to a certain extent by the inclement weather. The takings amounted to £l2 18s lOd. Mr F. Hayes, the headmaster, report-' ed that a demonstration of a duplicator had been given on parents’ Day. The machine was very efficient, and specimens of its work were produced. It was decided to confirm the purchase, the Home and School Association paying half cost. The secretary reported a credit balance of £B2 12s, and accounts amounting to £l3 Is 2d were passed. The Wellington Education Board advised that tenders for the conveyance of approximately 20 children from Tauherenikau to Featherston had been called, also that arrangements had been made with one of the teachers to convey pupils from Waiorongomai to Featherston, the teacher to receive payment of 10s per school day until a residence was erected at Waiorongomai, when payment would be at the-rate of 6s a day. It was decided to apply to the Wairarapa Racing Club for the use of (he course on Friday, February 3, for the annual school picnic. Personal Items. Mr and Mrs 8.. Clark, Hamilton, are spending Christmas with Mr and Mrs H. Clark. Mr and Mrs D. Edwards, Wellington, are the guests of Mrs Tullock for the holidays. Mr and Mrs R. McLennon, Thames, are visiting Mrs Charles for the holidays.
