BAD SEASON

SHEARING OPERATIONS HELD UP. EFFECT OF WET WEATHER As the result of the adverse weather, Wairarapa sheep farmers are experiencing their worst season in recent years. From the beginning of the season in November, operations have been interrupted and hardly a shed in the district has had a clear run. In some cases where shearing usually takes about two weeks, the work has not yet been completed. There will be no work over Christmas and it is anticipated that the season will drag on until the middle of January. The smaller sheds have suffered more than the big ones, which have large night pens. Until the last few days, difficulty had been experienced in finding sufficient shearers, but it is now stated that there arc plenty of men available.
