MEAT SHIPMENTS

POLICY OF THE BRITISH GOVERNMENT VIEWS OF NEW ZEALAND MINISTERS. BETTER AND MORE REGULAR SUPPLIES. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON. This Day. "No doubt the object of the British Government is to give greater security to the British farmers," said the Prime Minister, Mr Savage, when invited, last evening to comment on the London cable message stating that New Zealand and Australia had been asked to regulate the increased imports of mut;cn and lamb into Great Britain as from the middle of January. “Anything n the nature of irregular supplies does not help anyone, whether a British or New Zealand farmer. It is a question ;f better organisation. The better organisation we have the better it will oe for all concerned.” The Minister of Marketing, Mr Nash, said that the procedure referred to had been the subject of communication between the United Kingdom and the New Zealand Governments for some time. "I hope that the extension of the functions of the Beef Council to cover mutton and lamb will lead to better and more regular supplies to the United Kingdom.” said Mr Nash.
