TARARUA RIFLE CLUB. ("Times-Age” Special.) The Tararua Rifle Club fired the third and last shoot for the Blewett Cup which was won by C. Sigvertsen with a score of 190, S. Blewett being runner-up with one point behind. The scores in the final shoot were: —
Handicap limit: 95. A goose donated by J. P. Petersen was won by C. Sigvertsen. Cricket Match. On Saturday the Pahiatua cricket team visited Mangamaire. Pahiatua batted first.and made 107 (Montgomery 44, A. Mills 16, Siddells, not out, 14, Frederickson 11). Mangamaire in their first innings made 33 and in their second 39. Pahiatua won by an innings and 35 runs. 'Frederickson (5 for 17), McKay (6 for 11) and Montgomery (3 for 19) were best bowlers for Pahiatua. Christmas Party. The annual Christmas Tree Party held by the Druids’ and Foresters’ Lodges and the Fire Brigade was a most enjoyable affair, the large number of children present each receiving substantial gifts handed out by Father Christmas. Mr S. Daniel arranged a splendid programme of games and community singing. The children had a hectic time which will long be remembered by them.
