CROQUET MATCH. HAUNUI v MARTINBOROUGH. (“Times-Age” Special.) An inter-club A grade match was played between Martinborough and Haunui on the Haunui lawns, the scores being as follows (Martinborough players being mentioned first): —Doubles: Mesdames Williamson and McAlpine lost to Mesdames Barry and Watson, 12/26; Mesdames Boyd and Skill beat Mrs Wakely and Miss Nix, 26/7. Singles: Mrs McAlpine beat Mrs Barry, 26/0; Mrs Williamson beat Mrs Watson, 26/18; Mrs Skill beat Mrs Wakely, 26/4; Mrs Boyd lost to Miss Nix, 15/26. Card Tournament and Dance. There was a good attendance at the Christmas euchre tournament and dance held in the Kahutara Hall on Saturday night, when special prizes were • given. Pound, will in future be carried on by Mr H. Thompson, Bell Street, Featherston. Lake Opens. Last week’s severe north-west gales were responsible for opening the lake, thus saving a lot of labour.
