HOLIDAY PACKING

A USEFUL GUIDE. The following will be found a handy guide:— Suits, Dresses, and Blouses. (For one or two weeks) ■What to take: —Linen suit and blouse, washing frock, woolly jumper, light wool dress, evening frock and coatee or other small wrap. Advance preparation: —See that hems and fastenings are secure and skirts well pressed. Try on any new clothes to make sure everything fits. How to pack (in hatbox or suitcase): —Pad shoulders lightly with tissue; lay skirts full length of case, folding as little as possible; turn evening dress inside out, cover with tissue, roll and pack carefully in hat box. Lingerie and Nightwear. What to take: —One or two complete changes and extra woolly, nightdress er pyjamas, dressing gown, evening undies. Advance preparations:—Give shoulder straps, press studs and othei’ fastenings the “once over.” How to pack:—Pack small articles flat in transparent envelopes; tuck dressing gown over top of other clothes to hold everything in place. Accessories. What to take: —Belts and scarves to match dresses, evening bag, extra pair of gloves, handkerchiefs, shady hat. Advance preparation:—Press scarves, wash or clean gloves, collect supply of clean handkerchiefs. How to pack:—Pack small articles with lingerie, pack hat in hat box, seeing that brim is well supported and crown stuffed with tissue paper. Footwear. What to take: —Change of walking shoes, evening shoes, bedroom slippers, two pairs each ankle socks, silk and sports stockings. (Beach sandals and tennis shoes if necessary). Advance preparations:—Wash and mend stockings, have shoes repaired, if necessary, and cleaned. See' that laces, buttons or buckles are strong. How to pack:—Pack shoe pads in toes, then fill up with stockings. Pack at bottom of case, or flat at one side of case. Sports and Equipment. "What to take: —Bathing things, including towel, camera, racket, etc. Advance preparations:—See that everything is in good repair, try on bathing suit, test cap for watertightness; load camera. How to pack: —Carry Camera, racket, de, separately, each in its own case. Stuff bathing things in odd corners of suitcase. Oddments. What to take: —Washing paraphenalia. cosmetics, perfume, scissors, hair brush and comb, aspirins, needle and thread, safety pins, clothes brush, hot water bottle. Take holiday toiletries in small pots and bottles. How to pack: —Pack cosmetics in beauty box. Put the “dry” items in pockets of case.
