WOMEN’S INSTITUTE
SOLWAY-MANAIA. (“Times-Age” Special.) The monthly meeting of the SolwayManaia Women’s Institute was well attended. Visitors and members were welcomed by the President (Mrs S. Munn). Afternoon tea was followed by a most entertaining talk by Mrs McKay on “Bonnie Scotland," and photographs of various places visited proved of interest, Mrs McKay was accorded a hearty vote of thanks. The competitions resulted as follows: Christmas cake: Mrs Woollett 1, Mrs Munn and Mrs Henderson (equal) 2. Duchess set; Miss Russell. Christmas Lily: Miss Russell. Three Roses: Mrs Nicholls 1, Mrs Scrivener 2. The meeting closed with the exchange of the season’s greetings followed by the singing of the National Anthem. The programme for the February meeting will be: Roll call, “Sing, say or pay.” Cooking: Shortbread and three varieties of jam. Sewing: Soiled linen bag. Flowers: (1) A small bunch of flowers; (2) best red bloom.
