EAST SCHOOL
END OF YEAR GATHERING. VISIT FROM FATHER CHRISTMAS. The Masterton East School Association entertained the pupils at break-up, function on Thursday afternoon. The children were supplied with tea by the ladies’ committee and after a run in the playground, they entertained those present with some dainty folk dancing. Promptly at 6.30 o’clock, Father Christmas arrived by car and was introduced to the children by Miss Rayne, mistress in charge. Father Christmas then made some jocular remarks and proceeded to hand to every pupil a present from ■the tree.
Mrs A. I. Gibbs presented Miss Rayne with a handbag and Miss Goodall with a crystal dish from the parents.
Mr G. Selby presented a crystal mayonnaise set to Miss Isobel Stidolph, a retiring member of the social committee, and asked Mrs A. A. Ball to accept a cigarette case on behalf of Mr Ball, who had resigned from the association owing to his leaving the district.
