PREMIER OF ONTARIO

ABOUT TO VISIT AUSTRALIA CLASH WITH DOMINION PRIME MINISTER. LESSON TO BE LEARNED FROM COMMONWEALTH. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. (Received This Day, 9.20 a.m.) TORONTO, December 16. The Premier of Ontario, Mr Mitchell Hepburn, announces that he is sailing for Australia shortly after the New Year, to study the Commonwealth Bank and social legislation. He will be accompanied by his Minister of Works, Mr Colin Campbell, and Mr Chester Walters, Deputy Provincial Treasurer. The announcement followed upon the Premier’s vigorous criticism of the financial policy of the Dominion Prime Minister, Mr W. L. Mackenzie King, as one of merely drifting. Mr Hepburn demands the immediate refunding of the national debt, predicting bankruptcy in three years’ time if this is not done. He declares that Australia is reported to have found the real solution and is going over there to find it out. Mr Hepburn’s visit is regarded as another step in the open warfare between Mr Hepburn and the Prime Minister, which crystallised in Mr Hepburn’s declaration that the Prime Minister was unable to lead the party in a solution of economic problems.
