WEDDING
STROUD—STEEL The wedding of Miss Mary * Bethea Steel, only daughter of Mr and Mrs J. Steel, of Carterton, and Mr Godfrey Stroud, son of Mr and Mrs Stroud, Pagham, England, took place in St Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Carterton, on Thursday night, the Rev Ralph Byers, M.A., officiating. The church had been most beautifully decorated with flowers, pink being the predominating colour, and as the bride entered the church on the arm of her father, the organ, played by Mrs Gibb Johnston pealed forth “Here Comes the Bride.” The bride was most becomingly attired in a very pretty frock of pale- pink appliqued net over taffeta, surmounted by a long flowing veil. Her bouquet was composed mainly of carnations and heath.. She was attended by Miss Mary Booth (cousin) wearing a daintj' frock of floral tulip sheer over pale pink satin, with a spray of flowers in her hair. Mr Eric Tenderson, of Gladstone, was best man.
After the ceremony a reception was held in the Masonic Hall, where some eighty guests assembled. They were received by Mr and Mrs Steel, the latter wearing a delightful frock of black with fringed coatee, with cyclamen shaded sleeves, and carrying a bouquet of cyclamen and nansies. Mr J. A. B. Lawrence, an old friend of the family, proposed the toast of the bride and bridegroom, concluding his remarks by wishing them all possible happiness and success in the future.
