COUNTY AFFAIRS

WAIRARAPA SOUTH COUNCIL. SEALING OF DALEFIELD ROAD. (“Times-Age” Special.) The chairman, Mr D. McGregor, presided at the monthly meeting of the Wairarapa South County Council, held at Carterton yesterday. The treasurer reported a debit balance of £1767 17s and accounts amounting to £2218 17s 9d were passed. Receipts since last meeting totalled £2009 9s 2d. It was decided.to prohibit parking in Chester Road on December 26, the day of the Wairarapa Trotting Club’s meeting. The county office is to be closed from December 26 to January 13, and the outside staff holidays from December 26 to January 6.

Material for the sealing of Dalefield Road is to be ordered and the work started about the middle of January. The clerk and the chairman were appointed to deal with tenders for the work of raising part of Kokatau Road.

Tenders are to be called for the work of sealing three miles ten chains of the Masterton-Martinborough Main Highway.

R. J. Tretheway was appointed dog tax collector.

It was decided to widen the eastern approach to the Gladstone bridge.
