TRAGEDY IN NELSON
WOMAN & SON FOUND SHOT DEAD HUSBAND DETAINED BY POLICE (By Telegraph—Press Association.) NELSON, This Day. Mrs A. Kerr, and her son, Jack, aged 10, were found shot dead with a .22 rifle at their home at Uruwhenua, Takaka. The husband, Arthur Kerr, has been detained by the police. A daughter, Miss I. Kerr, was in the house at the time of the happening and gave the alarm to neighbours, who informed the policeman at Takaka, Constable A. C. .Strawbridge. The Constable visited Ihe house and took to Takaka the husband of the deceased woman. Kerr is a farmer at Uruwhenua, aged about 50, and kept the Uruwhenua Post Office.
Inspector J. Carroll, of Nelson, accompanied by Detective F. Hayhurst and Constable A. G. Hogg, proceeded from Nelson to investigate the case. After inquiries had been made at the house, the bodies of the two victims were taken to Takaka.
