SOLWAY COLLEGE

THE ANNUAL BREAKUP GATHERING

ASSEMBLY HALL CROWDED

DISTRIBUTION OF'PRIZES.

I The Assembly Hall at Solway Col- ; lege was crowded to capacity last night [ on the occasion of the annual break-up j ceremony and prize-giving. The Principal, Mrs M. B. Thompson, read her annual report surveying the activities of the past year and the prizes were presented by Mr A. J. Mazengarb, who later addressed the gathering. Though it was only twenty-three years old, said Mr Mazengarb, Solway College had developed fine traditions on the scholastic as well as the sporting side. From,a scholastic viewpoint, Solway ranked with any girls’ college in New Zealand. It not only had a fine examination record but laid the foundations of true education. Solway’s, scholastic record was something to be proud of, while parents and other visitors could not help being struck by the happy family of girls they saw about the grounds. He felt sure the girls would carry the traditions of Solway with them into their homes. The Rev D. McNeur thanked Mr Mazengarb for his interesting address.
