WOMEN’S INSTITUTE
RONGOKOKAKO MEETING. (“Times-Age” Special.) The December meeting of the Rongokokako Women’s Institute was held in the Hall when Mrs J. P. Sigvertsen presided over a very large attendance. The meeting took the form of a Christmas party for the children of the district. The children, capably trained by the teacher, Miss Ross, gave a number of items.
During an interval Santa Claus made an appearance, presenting the children with toys and books. After the presents had been distributed Miss Patty Goggin, on behalf of the children, thanked the Women’s Institute for the lovely party. A bouquet was then presented to Miss Ross.
The competitions for the month (best rose and best Christmas gift not costing more than Is) were won by Miss M. Sigvertsen, with Miss E. Sigvertsen second for the rose, and Mrs R. McAnulty was first, Miss D.-Nagel second, and Mrs Baucke third for the gift. The hostesses for the afternoon were Mrs Baucke, Mrs R. Farrow and Miss Mitchell.
