A most delightful “coming of age” party was given in honour of Miss Joyce Grant by Mrs W. Jolly at her home on Tuesday evening. About 40 guests were present and spent a happy lime in drawing-room games, competilions, musical items, etc. A sumptuous buffet supper was served in the dining room which was daintily decorated with bowls of sweet peas and Iceland poppies with streamers to tone. The guest of honour was called upon to light the candles and cut the birthday cake. A gold key was autographed by all present, after which Miss Joyce Grant’s health was drunk with musical honours. An enjoyable function was brought to a close with the singing of “Auld Lang Syne” and ringing cheers for Miss Grant and for Mrs Jolly for her hospitality. Personal. News has been received locally of the sudden death of Mrs Jas. Hunter in Wellington yesterday at an early age. Mrs Hunter was the youngest daughter of Mrs and the late Mr D. Ross of Cambridge Road. She is survived by her husband and two children.
