CHRISTMAS PARTY.

(“Times-Age” Special.) A Christmas party for the children of the Presbyterian Sunday School was held in'the Presbyterian Hall on Tuesday night. After tea the children played games and then the Sunday School teachers distributed the Christmas tree gifts and the Rev R. S. Keenan handed out the prizes won during the year. Personal. Mrs J. Mutter, who has been ill for some weeks, is reported to be making satisfactory progress towards recovery. The name of Miss Elizabeth Smith, of Featherston, is in the list of passes of the practical examinations just concluded in Wellington by Mr Anderson Tyrer, Trinity College, London. Miss Smith has passed her Licentiate in Elocution, gaining 71 marks. Obituary. The death occurred yesterday at Wellington of Mr James Adamson, at the age of 69, who was a well known ex-resident of Featherston. For many years he was manager of the Featherston Cheese Factory, and retiring from that position became a garage keeper. Later he was proprietor of the Royal Hotel. Some years ago he retired. He lived in Featherston for some time and then went to Otaki. He • was a keen bowler, having been president of the Featherston Club on several occasions. He had also been a member of the Borough Council. He leaves a widow and three children —Mrse Dowidow and three children—Mrs DoMoore (Martinborough) and Mr Percy Adamson (Wellington). Card Tournament. The members df the Fire Brigade held their final card tournament on Tuesday night when there was a good attendance. The winners were: Ladies, Mrs Baker 1, Miss K. Ruane 2. Men: Mr Jackson 1, Mr R. Fuge 2. Consolation: Mrs Barry and Mr Robinson. Aggregate: Miss Esma Card, Mrs A. Tait, Mr Perry and Mr Rae. Special aggregate prizes: Miss Lyford and Mr L., A. Crawford.
