FRANCE AND HER EMPIRE M. BONNET’S PLAIN LANGUAGE TO ITALY. PRESS POLEMICS IGNORED. By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright. (Received This Day, 12.5 p.m.) PARIS. December 14. “Thus far the Italian Government has not produced any claims against French territory, but France wants Italy to know that if it meant a conflict. Italy would never obtain an inch of Tunisia, Jibouti, Corsica or any other part of the French Empire," declared M. Bonnet (Minister of Finance) to the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Chamber of Deputies.
He added that France was ignoring the polemics of the Italian Press in view of the disavowal by Count Ciano and Signor Mussolini of the claims. Herr Ribbentrop gave an assurance while in Paris, M. Bonnet stated, that Germany remained faithful to the Rome-Berlin axis', but had no direct interest in the Mediterranean.
