PLUMS TOO ATTRACTIVE

STREET TREES DAMAGED. ' APPEAL BY BEAUTIFYING SOCIETY. The mutilation of the Prunus trees on the western side of Masterton is at the present time causing the Masterton Beautifying Society much worry and the committee appeals to residents in the vicinity to check as much as possible any further breaking of the branches by those securing fruit. An honourary ranger has been appointed by the society to report to the police anyone interfering with the trees without authority. . The society realises that the sooner the fruit is picked the better it will be for the trees, and should anyone wanting fruit apply to the secretary, authority will not be refused, providing the plums are picked in a decent manner without further injury to the trees. /_
