Far too keen an interest in the success of the Road Safety Campaign nearly caused a cyclist in the Square, Christchurch, to be involved in an accident. Riding along past the Post Office, the rider of the bicycle kept his eyes on the yellow pennant at the top of the mast in the plot by the Godley statue and ignored other traffic. He gazed so long at the flag that he did not notice a taxi-cab drawing out from the stand in front of the Savings Bank entrance, and trying to get past him. He wobbled perilously, still not looking where he was going, but just as a few bystanders were gasping in fright, he saw his danger and slipped out of the way of the taxi. With one last look at the pennant, he disappeared from the Square.
