The Hon H. G. R. Mason. AttorneyGeneral, returned to Wellington from Auckland yesterday. Mr Seymour Stuckey, Dunedin, is visiting his sister, Mrs A. W. McKenzie, Renal! Street, Masterton. The Hon D. G. Sullivan, Minister of Industries and Commerce, returned to Wellington yesterday from Christcnurch.
In connection with the medical professional examinations held in November, K. F. M. Uttley, formerly of Wairarapa College, passed the second section of the third professional examination for the degree of M. 8., Ch.B. The Hon F. Langstone, Minister of Lanas, will leave Wellington for Taumarunui by the Limited express tomorrow, night. Before returning to Wellington on Tuesday he will fulfilseveral engagements in the King Country.
The marriage took place at the registry office, Cambridge, on Monday, of Sir J_ames Parr former High Commissioner for New Zealand in London, and Mrs Barbara Whitworth. London, reports a Press Association telegram. Sir James and Mrs Whitworth announced their engagement during the voyage of the Arcades from England co New Zealand in October.
At jl a.m. yesterday the Mayor of Wanganui, Mr W. J. Rogers (formerly. a resident of Masterton' was operated on for appendicitis. His condition is reported to oe satisfactory. The operation was a success, but Mr Rogers will not be able to see visitors for several days. He was taken ill suddenly on his way home from a concert on Monday night and admitted to hospital yesterday morning for observation.
The mayor of Geraldine. Mr John Robert Lack, aged 65, died suddenly while playing bowls at the Geraldine Bowling Club’s green on Monday evening, ' states a Press Association message from Timaru. Mr Lack was deputy mayor for some years and was elected mayor at the last municipal election. He had resided in Fairlie for some years, arriving at Geraldine in 1931 to take up the managership of lhe Canterbury Farmers’ Co-opera-tive Association. Later he entered Pusiness on his <>wn 'account as a bookseller, but disposed of this about two years ago. Since then he had been engaged ii/ accountancy and land agency work. Mr Lack was predeceased by his wife, the surviving member of the family being a son, Mr D. J. Lack, Dunedin.
