The distribution to farmers in the Auckland Province for wool sold at the opening sale of the 1938-39 season was £339,896, compared with £201,700 last year. There was an almost total clearance of the 24,240 bales offered, 24,028 bales being sold. The total weight of wool sold was 8,356,4331 b, and the average price realised was 9.76 d a lb, or £l4 2s lid a bale, compared with 9.37 d a lb and £l3 10s 7d a bale for the opening sale of last year.
