WOMEN’S INSTITUTE
MEETING AT ALFREDTON. (“Times-Age” Special.) There was a fair attendance of members at the Alfredton Women’s Institute meeting, when Mrs Hull presided. A very interesting travel talk on India was given by Miss Ruth White, several beautiful articles collected on the trip were passed round for inspection. The upper classes' from the school came along to hear the talk which was enjoyed.
The competitions were judged by Miss White and Mrs Hammond, and resulted as follows: — Best worked guest towel: Mrs Dickens, 1; Miss S. Napier, 2; Mrs A. Napier, 3. Meringues: Mrs Dickens, 1; Mrs G. Napier, 2; Mrs J. Spring, 3. Best bloom: Mrs Low (Christmas lily), 1; Mrs Clee (Geranium), 2; Mrs Weston (Rose), 3. On the motion of Mrs Hull a hearty vote of thanks was passed to • Miss white for her interesting talk. Miss White suitably responded. A dainty shoulder spray was presented to her, and one also to Mrs Hammond. Afternoon tea was served by the hostesses, Mrs G. Napier and the Misses S. and M. Napier. The singing of the National Anthem brought the very pleasant, function to a close.
