SCOUT RALLY POSTPONED. ("Times-Age” Special.) There were many disappointed Scouts in Carterton on Saturday when word was sent through from Eketahuna that the Scout Rally was off on account of the heavy rain: the boys had been looking forward to the event with keen interest. otreet Improvement. A gang of workmen commenced yesterday to form a footpath on the northern side of Tyne Street and when the work is completed this will fill a long felt want. Heavy Wind. • The heavy gale that visited Carterton on Sunday night and all day yesterday wrecked one or two sheds in the southern part of the town. Oddfellows Lodge. The fortnightly meeting of Loyal Heart of Oak Lodge of Oddfellows was held last evening. Bro W. J. Wilkins, N.G.', presided over a fair attendance. including visitors from Masterton and Eketahuna. Prior to the commencement of business a vote of condolence was passed to a visiting Brother J. A. McCash in his recent bereavement. Sick pay to the amount of £l6 10s was ordered to be paid and other accounts amounting to £l2 4s 9d were passed for payment. Lodge honours were conferred, upon the visiting members, who returned their thanks. The secretary was authorised to acknowledge an invitation -from Loyal Combination Lodge, Johnsonville, to be present at their Christmas Tree festival next Saturday and to reciprocate the season’s greetings. It was resolved that the season’s greetings be sent to all Wairarapa lodges and the Wellington District Grand Mistress and officers. , Owing to next lodge' night fallihg on December 26 it was, decided not to meet again until after the New Year holidays. The officers elected for the ensuing term were installed into their respective offices by P.G. Bro R. Farrow of Loyal Eketahuna Lodge, and a member of the Wellington District Man-' agement Committee, in a very efficient manner, who congratulated each upon his election. Honours of the Order were extended to all. At the conclusion, the installing master was asked to. present the retiring I.P.N.G. with a past officers framed diploma. In doing so he referred to the loyal service given to the lodge by Bro R. J. Fisher, and expressed the wish that he would still retain his interest in the affairs of the Order. Bro Fisher returned his thanks. The N.G. elect, Bro A. R. Tankersley, appointed P.G. Sister Mellish as his right supporter, and P.G. Bro Rathbone as his left supporter, and appointed P.G. Ero C. E. White as guardian. The secretary was authorised to write to those members who are on the sick funds of the lodge, extending the season’s greetings of the N.G. and officers. A letter of recommendation was granted to a member resident in Levin. .After the business was concluded supper was partaken of.
