OBITUARY
* MR JAMES McNEILL. FORMER GOVERNOR-GENERAL OF FREE STATE. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. (Received This Day, 9.30 a.m.) LONDON, December 12. The death has occurred of Mr James McNeill. Born at Glenaim, County Antrim, in 1869, Mr James McNeill entered the Indian Civil Service in 1890 and later had extensive administrative experience in India and carried out special duties in the West Indies and “Fiji relating to Indian migration. He became chairman of the Dublin County Council in 1922 and was a member of the committee appointed by the Provisional Government to draft a constitution for the Irish Free State in 1922. Mr McNeill was High Commissioner for the Irish Free State from 1923 to 1928 and Governor-General from 1928 to 1932.
