SHEEPSKINS AND HIDES

WELLINGTON PRICES EASIER. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. Prices of sheepskins and hides were easier at the sale held yesterday by the Wellington brokers. Sheepskins: The easing in prices at the recent northern sales was reflected here and prices generally were from Jd to Id a lb lower. Hides: This market is still in a rather uncertain state and interest in yesterday’s sale was not so keen, and values for all grades were lower by about Jd to Id a lb, except heavy calf, which sold at improved rates. Tallow: There was no quotable change in prices. The following is the range of prices:

Sheepskins: Halfbred, Gd to 7jd; fine crossbred, 6d to 7Jd; medium, crossbred, 5d to 7Jd, coarse crossbred, 5d to 71d; half-wools, 5d to 7jd; quarterwools, 4d to 6d; pelts, l.jd to 3!Jd. Hides: Ox, 33/441b, 4jd to 4=d; 45/521b 5d to 5 7-8 d; 53/591b, 4 3-8 d to 6 5-8 d; 60/691b, 4.1 d to 6 5-8 d; 701 b and over, 4 5-8 d to 6Jd; cow, 33/391b, 4d to 4 7-8 d; 40/481b, 3d to 4 7-8 d; 491 b and over, 3 5-8 d to 4 7-8 d; kip, 25/321b, 4d to 5 3-8 d; 17/241b, 2d to 6 5-8 d; yearling, 11/161b, 4 l-8d to 7 3-8 d; calf. 9/101b, 6 3-8 d to 9’d; 6/81b, 7.1 d to 103 d; l/51b, Bjd to IOJd. Tallow: In casks, etc., a cwt, 10s 3d to 15s; in tins, 6s to 9s. Sundries: Cow tails, a doz, 8d; horse hair, a lb, 5d to 17d.
