GRAIN AND PRODUCE

CANTERBURY MARKETS.

(By Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, December 9.

Except for a small amount of retail business there is no movement in the Canterbury grain and produce markets. Dullness in the markets is usual at this time of the year, and there is not likely to be any revival in business before the middle of January.

Crop prospects in Canterbury still look good and according to reports received from merchants the season in other parts of the country promises well also. Southland reports are that fescue, ryegrass and dogstail are looking well, though it is a little early yet to say anything with certainty. A late frost for instance would make a lot of difference.

Quotations in the local market are unchanged.
