NEW HOME FOR JEWS
NORTH EASTERN RHODESIA REPORTED CONSIDERATION IN BRITAIN. AREA LARGER THAN ENGLAND. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. (Received This Day, 12.20 p.m.) LONDON, December 9. The “Daily Telegraph” says the Government is discussing a proposal to create a new Jewish national home in North-Eastern Rhodesia, which is most suitable for European settlement, and large enough to permit the development of a Jewish national state, accommodating all potential Jewish settlers from throughout the world. From a strategic viewpoint, a grateful and friendly Jewish state, bordering other British possessions, should be a source of strength. It is understood that Poland and Rumania will co-operate. Both would regard a British contribution in the way to a solution of one of the gravest of national problems as most encouraging.
The newspaper adds that the area concerned is larger than England. The unemployment problem would not arise, because extensive development is necessary. REALISATION OF ASSETS NEGOTIATIONS WITH NAZIS. POSSIBLE CONCESSIONS. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. (Received This Day, 12.55 p.m.) BERLIN, December S. Negotiations between the Nazis and Jews with a view to permitting emigrants to realise some of their assets are progressing. The plan provides for giving refugees coupons authorising them to buy German goods of a stated value in foreign countries, thus recovering part of their money left in Germany and also increasing German exports.
