ANTI-ITALIAN DISORDERS IN TUNIS SCORES OF ARRESTS MADE. REINFORCEMENTS BEING SENT FROM ALGERIA. By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright. TUNIS, December 9. Several thousand Arabs attempted anti-Italian demonstrations amid crowds of Italian and French, who were equally prepared for a fight. The police cleared the avenues after several charges, in which people were knocked down and cafe tables overturned. Scores of arrests were made, including 10 Italians, one being a member of the Consulate. A dozen ringleaders are held for trial. The editor of the Italian newspaper ‘•Union,” which published violent articles against France was also arrested. Another arrest reported is that of Signor Übaldo Rey, leader of the local Fascist organisation. It is reported that the arrested Italians will be charged with seditious activities. Government sources deny sensational reports, circulating in London, that troops are being rushed to Tunis, but it is stated from Tunis thaf the city is like an armed camp, following upon large scale reinforcements, with Spahis and Zouaves patrolling the streets and the garrison standing, by. There is no doubt that the French authorities are fully preparing for likely trouble at the weekend. MOSTLY SCHOOLBOYS CROWD DISPERSED IN ROME. MANY ARRESTS MADE. (Received This Day, 9.45 a.m.) ROME, December 9. Police and Carabinieri dispersed 500 persons, largely schoolboys, carrying school books and satchels, who were demonstrating against France. Many arrests were made.
