“FARMYARD EROLICS”
TRUBY KING CLUB DANCE. Parties for which there is no need to “dress” are becoming increasingly popular with Wellington’s younger people and on Saturday night the Truby King Club bowed to the prevailing fashion with a dance that bore the intriguing title of “Farmyard Frolics.” It was held in the Kelburn Kiosk and about 100 members and their friends were present. The fashionable and very comfortable dirndale peasant dresses were ideal for such an occasion, and most of the girls present were wearing them. Grey shirts and slacks, and floppy straw hats made up the costume most popular with their partners. A case, of apples at the door was the decoration
provided by the committee, and most of the people present sampled the apples. Games and competitions were included in the programme, as well as dances, and an excellent supper was served. The dance was most friendly and informal and to a casual visitor the kiosk might well have looked like a ; barn in which a group of traditional • harvesters were celebrating after their ■ day’s work.
