MASTERTON CLUB’S WEEKLY EVENTS. SECOND COMPETITION EVENING. The second competition evening of the Masterton Swimming Club’s season was held on Tuesday when a good attendance of the public gave encouragement to the swimmers. It was noticeable that more competitors were wearing full costumes but there is room for still greater improvement in this direction. The following were the results of the events: —. Girls’ 25 yards handicap: B. Mayhew (7secs.), 1; N. Stains (4secs.), 2; L. Ross (ssecs.), 3. Time, 28secs. Boys’ 25 yards handicap: D. Stewart (Bsecs.), and F. Sexton (4secs.), equal 1; C. Stewart (4secs.), 3. Time, 21 2-5 5 25 yards junior breaststroke: G. Whyborn, 1; E. Rollings, 2; R. Major, 3. Time, 27secs. 25 yards ladies’ handicap: Miss B. Welch (2secs.), 1; Miss N. Spiers (scr.), 2. Time, 19 l-ssecs. 50 yards men’s handicap: D. Cairns (7secs.), 1: T. Major (scr.), 2; L. Maguire (scr.), 3. Time, 37secs. 50 yards men’s breaststroke handicap: D. Cairns (9secs.), 1; F. Milne (scr.), 2; L. Maguire (ssecs.), 3. Time, 49 l-ssecs.
25 yards men’s scratch race: L. Maguire, 1; T. Major, 2; F. Milne, 3. Time, 14secs. Junior boys’ dive: E. Rollings, 31.5 points, 1; R. Major, 30.5 points, 2; F. Sexton, 25 points, 3. . Junior girls’ dive: N. Stains, 18.5 points. 1; L. Ross, 13.5 points, 2; M. Pauling, 10 points, 3. Open dive: V. McKeague, 17.5 points, 1; L. Maguire and Miss N. Spiers, 15 points, equal 2. The following is the programme for next Tuesday evening, commencing promptly at 7.15 o’clock: —Girls’ 25 yards handicap; boys’ 25 yards handicap; 25 yards handicap (intermediate girls); intermediate boys’ 50 yards handicap; ladies’ 25 yards handicap; men’s 75 yards handicap; open 50 yards backstroke handicap; open 75 yards breaststroke handicap; boys’ 25 yards breaststroke handicap: men’s 25 yards scratch race; open 100 yards teams relay (4 per team); ladies’, men’s, girls’ and boys’ dives.
