GIFT DAY

GATHERING AT SEDGLEY. TENDER FOR NEW HOME ACCEPTED. A very successful gift day was held at the Sedgley Boys’ Home yesterday, when visitors were present from all parts of the Wairarapa. A splendid array of gifts was received, including flour, sugar, jam and fruit, besides cash donations, which will be acknowledged at a later date. The Rev. E. J. Rich thanked those present for their attendance and for their support of the home during the past year.

Mr A. S. Kempthorne, secretary of the Anglican Boys’ Home Society, outlined the plans for the new home to be built at Sedgley during the coming year. The tender of Messrs Jenkin Bros., of Masterton had been accepted and work would be started in the very near future.

■When completed the new home will provide substantially larger accommodation and the building will embody the latest ideas as to hygiene and lighting facilities.
