LARGE YARDING OF CATTLE. PRICES FOR PRIME QUALITY FIRM. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. At Johnsonville stock sale yesterday, Wright, Stephenson and Co. offered a large yarding of all classes of cattle. The bullocks penned were of exceptionally good quality. All prime quality cattle met with a ready sale with prices showing no alteration. Prime quality cattle were firm on last week’s rate, and medium and plain sorts were easier by 5s to 10s a head. Heavy wethers were easier by Is, and light weight Is to Is 6d a head. Hoggets met with a good sale, with no alteration. Prices for ewes were slightly easier. A good sale resulted for all weights of lambs. Realisations were:—
Cattle: Prime extra heavy bullocks, £l4 10s to £l3 15s; prime heavy bullocks, £l3 10s to £l2 18s; heavy bullocks, £l2 12s 6d to £l2 ss; light and unfinished bullocks, £ll 10s to £9; extra prime heavy cows and heifers, £ll to £8 15s; prime heavy cows and heifers, £8 5s to £7 16s; cows and heifers, £7 10s to £6 3s; runners and vealers, £5 to £3 12s;; small calves, 30s to 255.
Sheep: Prime extra heavy wethers, 23s 3d to 22s 3d; prime heavy wethers, 22s to 21s; medium wethers, 20s to 18s 3d;‘prime extra heavy ewes, 15s to 14s 6d; prime heavy ewes, 14s to 13s; medium ewes, 12s 6d to 10s 3d; heavy hoggets, 21s to 19s 3d; light hoggets, 18s 6d to 16s lOd; heavy spring lambs, 23s to 21s; medium spring lambs, 20s to 18s; light spring/lambs, 17s to 15s 3d.
