MAURICEVILLE
WOMEN’S INSTITUTE. (“Times-Age” Special.) The members of the Mauriceville Women’s Institute held their monthly meeting in the Mauriceville Hall yesterday, when Mrs H. Freeman presided over a fair attendance. Interesting reports were given by Mrs J. Baine and Miss M. Larsen on meetings attended recently as representatives of the institute. The roll call for the afternoon was “Gardening Hints.” Mrs Shaw, of Kaituna, was accorded a hearty vote of thanks at the conclusion of an interesting and instructive demonstration of cake icing. The competitions for the afternoon were won by Miss Joyce Larsen and Miss R. Mortensen. The president extended the season’s greetings to members. The hostesses were Mesdames Scherf, Baine and Gregory. The next meeting will be held at the residence of Mrs A. Forsberg, Mauriceville West, in February, when Mrs Austin will give an address. Concert and Dance. After a successful effort at Kopuaranga some time ago the Kopuaranga Concert Party has consented to give a repeat performance in the Mauriceville Hall on Thursday. This will be followed by supper and a dance, which will provide a full evening’s enjoyment.
