KURIPUNI SUNDAY SCHOOL
THE ANNIVERSARY CONCERT.
PIONEER DAYS RECALLED. i Fifty-eight years ago, in a little tin shed, the cow-bail acting as a primary room, the Kuripuni Sunday School started out upon its adventure of Christian education. The leader of this movement was Mr C. E. Daniell, who is still able to take a keen interest in Masterton Methodism. This interesting information was given on Monday evening at the annual concert and prize-giving of the Sunday School, when suitable references were made to the noble pioneers of days far removed from the present. Parents and friends were present in large numbers and enjoyed every minute of an interesting programme given by the choir, under the direction of Mr Walter Davies.
The Rev F. J. Parker addressed the gathering, and the children were delighted when he lit the fifty-eight candles and requested the choir to blow them out.
Mrs Parker was introduced to the parents by the chairman and afterwards presented the prizes. Those taking a leading part in the concert were: VicJSlewman, Hazel Day. Noel Newman, Frank Rigg, Vivian Day. Barry Moss, Pamela Benjamin, Inez Walker, Ken Moss, the Price brothers. Ray Martin, Verna Cornick, Shirley Nicholl, Leslie' Saunders, and Maurice Reed.
