RIDING FENDS

CONTRIBUTION BY UPPER TAUERU. A COUNCILLOR’S SUGGESTION. Referring at yesterday’s meeting of the Masterton County . Council to a meeting of Upper Taueru ratepayers, held recently, Councillor J. Donald said the amount paid by the riding to the council was £290 a year. That amount had been paid for the past nine years and it appeared that it would continue to be paid for an indefinite period. In view of the essential works required in the riding and of the fact that it had not been possible to get any permanent surfacing work done in that district he suggested that the council should give consideration to the question of handing that amount back to the riding.
