REPLACING USE OF HORSES IN CANADA. OTTAWA. Introduction of light general purpose tractors on farms in Canada have to a large extent, reduced the requirements for horses. According to the Dominion Bureau of Statistics the horse population in Canada on June 1 last was 2,820,700 head as compared with 2,882,990 head the previous year. While there is a reduction in the total number of horses, there is, however, an increase in the breeding of Percheron and Clydesdale types.
