CHURCH OF ENGLAND
MEETING OF MEN’S SOCIETY. AN OUTSTANDING ADDRESS. An outstanding address by Mr G. Hyde on “Evangelism” marked the last meeting for the year of the Masterton branch of the Church of England Men’s Society, held in the Parish Hall last night. The speaker in a most interesting way gave salient points from the lives of great evangelists through the centuries, suggesting ways in which the spiritual' needs of humanity could be met. A keen discussion followed the address. So great indeed was the interest in the subject that the closing time of the meeting had to be extended, and eventually it was decided to continue the discussion at the next meeting of the branch. On the motion of the Rev E. J. Rich a hearty vote of thanks was accorded Mr Hyde for his stimulating address. In the course of the evening opportunity was taken to farewell Mr A. Crookenden, an active member of the branch, and to wish him well in his new work in Wellington.
