FORESTERS’ LODGE

FORTNIGHTLY MEETING. The fortnightly meeting of Court Loyal Enterprise Ancient Order of Foresters, was held last evening, Bro T. N. N. Coley, Chief Ranger, presiding. An apology for absence was received from Bro Smith. Bro Stewart reported favourably on the sick members. The brethren stood in silence as a mark of respect to the memory of the late Bros J. W. Maunell and A. J. Rushton. The secretary’s action in having written letters of condolence to the bereaved relatives was approved.

A letter was received from Dr J. A. Cowie advising that his son, who was a duly qualified medical practitioner and surgeon, would assist him in attending to his lodge patients. Bro Barr reported on the meeting of the Dispensary Board. The nominations for office for 1939 was as follows: —C.R., Bro C. A. Leigh; S.C.R., Bro H. Stewart; S.W., Bro R. Walker; J.W., Bro S. Sharman; 5.8., Bro G. Selby; Secretary, Bro G. L. Scrivener; Treasurer, Bro G. G. Jackson. The office of J.B. to be held in abeyance.

The Christmas Tree committee reported that the arrangements for the’ function were well in hand.

Sick pay and accounts amounting to £2O 19s 6d were passed for payment. The secretary advised as to having received a supply of copies of the Foresters’ Diary for 1939 from the High Court Secretary. It was decided thateach of the officers be supplied with a copy free of charge. A circular explaining the Social Security Act was read and discussed, members being considerably enlightened thereon.
